To me Hazard is the place to be when you need to feel warmth and comfort. I know when things get crazy for me out here I just go back to Hazard and it makes it all better. The friendly people and caring families is what makes Hazard " Home" to me and many other people ,even though we no longer live there.

I like this site and it keeps me in touch with what is going on in Hazard, but I wish these people that keep putting this crap on about poker games and such would stop. Is there no way to stop this?

Hello and Best Wishes to the caring and generous people of Hazard, Kentucky. I am deeply touched by your expression of compassion for the hurricane-ravaged residents of New Orleans. Your web site is the next best thing to visiting hazard, which I plan to do in the near future.

I have been in Chicago for awhile now. I just want to thank WSGS for this site. It really nice to be able to go on here and see what is going on in my hometown. Hazard has had it ups and downs with the news media but the portrail of Hazard this week it the media is what Hazard is really all about. Family friend and real southern hospitality. Its funny five years ago we were looked down on by a nation. Now a whole nation is looking up to us. Way to go Hazard, keep up the good work...

The folks of Hazard have shown the nation how to do it up right!! I saw the report on Nightline tonight and your thoughtful donations brought tears to my eyes. You folks are the living definition of what Americans should be....thank you from the rest of the nation also for setting such a fine example of compassion and hope.

Just wanted to praise all the folks involved in the Hurricane Katrina relief fund drive that took place 9-2-05 at the Super Walmart parking area. People from Hazard and surrounding counties came together in a community wide effort to donate various desperately needed items to the victims in northern coastal states hit by this recent hurricane. The Sparkman family at WSGS and other community officials as well as businesses organized and succeded in this mission. Thank you Kim Sparkman for the time and effort you and your family put into this.

My father in law, Oscar Paul Spurlock, is the son of Ollie W Spurlock and Zella Marie Chambers. Oscar has told many childhood stories of life in Hazard. He moved to St. Augustine in the late 1850's with his father and brother Jesse. Would love to hear from anyone that knew them!
