My wife and I came threw Hazard and Buffalo and Buckhorn area to visit family on Gays creek. I found that everyone we met was very warm and welcomed us with open arms. My family is deep rooted in those Mountains and I wish I had grown up there. Hope to come visit again real soon.

I've often wondered what happened to my army friend from Hazard,Argus Singleton. I was always supposed to go home with him for a visit sometime, but never got around to doing it. He made it seem like a interesting place.

Looking at the pictures on this site are like looking at my fathers old picture albums. My parents Robert E. Cagle and Edna M. Banks-Cagle are from Combs and Hazard. Every vacation memory I have until the age of 34 are from Eastern KY. I visted my grandmother (Mamaw) every year until she passed at the age of 97. Her name was Vina Brock-Cagle. Although I never met my Papaw, Columbus L. Cagle, he helped build the Mother Goose and we always visited there. Russell Banks, a coal miner, and Minnie Caudill-Banks, are my Grandparent on my mothers side, Papaw Banks was my favorite and I was his. This site is wonderful and I thank you for rekindling the heartwarming memories. Keep up the great work. If anyone knows any of my ancestors please feel free to contact me @ beedoll224@aol.com.

My great-grandfather was Elhanon Combs married to Kathryn (Fugate)Combs. Does anyone know anything about Elhanon and Kathryn? They took their family and left Hazard in the early 1900's and settled in Middletown, Ohio. Some of their children were Fulton, William Farris, Granville, Mary, John. I have always heard the name "Combs" is Welsh and that seven brothers came from Wales and settled in the Hazard area. Is there any truth to this? Also, has there been a book written about the Combs lineage? the4dolls@hotmail.com
