Hello everyone. I would like to say I am so sorry for the passing of two great men who will be missed very much. Tommy Kelly and Joe Begley. These men are truly angels and who I will personally miss a
lot. Both wives of these men are sweethearts and are the backbones of these men I am sure. I will truly miss these great souls but I am sure God has a smile on his face listening to them tell their
stories to others. God bless the family members of the Kelly family and the Begley family I know these wonderful men will be missed deeply. Thank You.

My parents are both from KY my father grew up on Pond Branch near Hazard. His name is Ollie Terry he's the oldest son of Johnny and Alonzo Terry. I just love going down home back to the old home place
where he was raised with his 9 other brothers and sisters. God bless Big Mommy all those children in a three room cabin. The creek behind the house, wading in it up past our ankles and the long walk
up the hillside to the family gravesite. Daddy raised us in lower Michigan but raised us on those good southern beliefs. I remember daddy telling us stories about his younger days in Hazard and alot
of the last names that I've read on this web sound familiar. If anyone remembers my dad or his family I would love to here from you. I really miss his stories.

Hello, Daisy, Cornettsville, and Perry County. I was born at Daisy Camp while my dad, Walton Roberts, was employed as a lumber inspector for the Ritter Lumber Company. I attended Daisy School in the
first grade before moving to the City of Detroit. My mother, Garnie Cornett Roberts, sends greeting to all her cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. She and Dad were married by Preacher Petrey at
Hazard on December 31, 1934. I see by the historical and recent photographs included here that things have changed a bit since then. We appreciate all the contributions and efforts made by folks to
the site and plan to visit it often.

Hello to any who find my message! I'm not quite sure why I'm leaving a message. I don't really need to get in contact with anyone in particular. But, just to fill up some space, I'm going to fill you
in on some information. I'm 20 years old, since November of last year (1999). I attended Morehead State University as an English major from August of '98 until May of '99. When I discovered I didn't
have the funds to continue going there, I came back home and am now attending Hazard Community College, remaining an English major (and about to pick up a minor in history). I graduated from Perry
County Central High School in '98; before that, my freshman year, I attended Dilce Combs High School. (I hated high school. No fun or freedom at all. Ugh.) Anyone who wishes to contact me for whatever
reason may do so. I'll even accept harassing mails. They're so fun to report to Internet authorities. I'll be especially nice to you, however, if you're someone I know. So send me a message. I'm
usually very prompt in my replies. By the way, I believe the message boards on this site are more suited to finding family, rather than the guest book (which is what you're reading now). And one more
thing: sorry I seem like such a grump. I'm a fugitive from class this morning. Who in their right mind would want to sit through an hour of sociology class for "discussion time"? It's
useless. Useless, I say! Why should we be required to take so many irrelevant classes? Alas, I'm ranting to the wrong group of people. I should write Hal Rogers about this. At any rate, to those of
you searching for family, good luck; to those of you just messing around like I am...well...hello. Write me. Maybe we'll have something in common other than Hazard.

I had always been told that my maternal grandmother, Mary Lee Harris Longley had a brother who was the mayor of Hazard, KY for over 50 years, probably during the early part of the last century. Thus I
went to my searcher and put in Hazard, KY. I have spent a beautiful TX afternoon reading all about your county and city. I never found my great uncle, Howell Harris, but I did enjoy your site
tremendously. Since I am the only one left in this family I will have to search somewhere else to clarify this family lore. As I am a member of Historic Mesquite (TX), INC I am very interested in your
vast number of historic pictures. I will acquaint our Executive Director with your presentation. Thank you very much for such display.

I really found this site looking for information...I was born in Hazard Kentucky In 1983. I haven't really been there all that much in a long time and so I'm not too familiar with names and places.
I'm looking for information about my family but, mostly my dad. My Madove ran the Brashear Funeral Home for along time, Dove Brashear. Denny Brashear was my papaw. their son, Terry Brashear was killed
in 84' I think I was a little over a year old. He was murdered, or that was what I was told... he worked at the funeral home too. My mom took me out of ky and is scared to go back...I wanna know the
truth about my dad...or some memories. We used to live by Verdymae's bar...across the street from a r.r. and a big bridge... I went to Viper Elementary School. Mrs. Root was my teacher...there is a
picture of me sleeping on a rocking chair in the yearbook... I miss hazard and my dad I wish I could have gotten to know him. if anyone has any info for me I will be so grateful. Hey, even if you know
some of my family...I'd love to hear about it please.

I found out about this site when I did a web search to find out more about the ancestors of my grandparents, William and Rhoda Sizemore Cornett. I was born in Hardburly in 1952 and was thrilled to
find the Hazard site. What fun it has been to read through the guest book and find many of the familiar names that I remember from my girlhood in eastern Kentucky. I would enjoy hearing from anyone
who wants to exchange stories about Hardburly and Hazard, particularly during the 50's and 60's. One of my best memories was when my grandfather, Bill Cornett, who was the sheriff of Perry county,
used to take me down to the old courthouse, where I would walk over to his massive wooden desk and peek into his desk drawer to find candy bars, always waiting to be discovered. He always let me take
one. I can still remember the rich taste of the Hershey's chocolate! We would then head over to Don's Rexall Drug store for a fountain Coke. Anybody have any memories of Bill or Rhoda that they would
like to share?

Hello Hazard. I was born in Hazard in Shuckybean Holler. My mother's name is Loraine Daniels Hurt and my father's name is Everett L. Hurt. My father is now deceased and my mother and most of my
siblings now live in Cincinnati Ohio or surrounding areas. I'm looking for any information on my father's first wife. He married her in Germany during the war, they had one child together before he
returned home to Hazard in the early 1940's. Her name was Jennifer and all we really know about her is that she was from a wealthy family in Germany. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, just found this Hazard site. Its great. I have seen a lots of names that I recognize. My name is Roy Everett Couch, I am the son of Henry & Zola Couch (both deceased), My Grandfather was
Noah Couch of Blue Grass Hollow, everyone just called him Uncle Noah, has always drove a horse and wagon to town. I went to school in Hazard up to the third grade, then moved to Michigan. I finished
school in Michigan with a lot of other kids from Kentucky. Just to mention a few, there were the Ritchies, Noes, Sizemores, Bakers, Watts, Combs, etc. I guess they all came up with their parents as
the cold mines started to close down and the auto business started to boom in MI. My Father Henry Couch had seven (7) brothers (Eli, William, Joe, Monroe, Richmond, Ira, Farmer) all have passed away
but they left a lot of family members scattered throughout Kentucky, Ohio & Michigan. I see where someone (Darlene Couch) from Kenosha, Wisconsin, was looking for information on a William Couch
who was a deputy sheriff and Hazard City Police Officer in the old days, well my uncle Will (William Couch) could have been that person. He served as a police officer and deputy sheriff in the 30s and
40s. Uncle Eli was also a officer in the old days. I also noticed a letter from a Michael Couch from Springfield, Ohio. I know we are related, Billy & Ethel are my first cousins, Billy is the son
of William & Sarah Couch of Leather-wood. This is great. I am retired and have lots of time to communicate with folks that write this site. please contact me at BRcouch1@excite.com

Hello, my father worked in the Blue Diamond Coal Mines, he would tell of bringing in the union to this mine. Along with other great stories unfortunately he passed in 1976 of black lung, he would have
been 90 years old. His name was Herbert Begley and was married to Maude Williams, they lived along Tantroft (Buckhorn Lake) raised 8 children there. I was born in Ohio after they moved out for the
Lake to be built. It is great to get on and see some of the places my parents took me to as a young child (Mother Goose). Now I am bringing my children every summer to build some wonderful memories
