"I was born at the Hurst-Snyder Hospital on June 1, 1934. Make an old man now. Dr. Hurst was the delivering physician. I believe he expired the next month. A funny thing happened before I got home. My mother named me Carl Dwight Baker. I didn't discover that my birth certificate carried the name Carl Wallace Baker. For over forty years, I have been going by Dwight when my name should have been Wallace. My parents, Dan and Martha Baker lived in Diablock where my mother was the postmaster and my father was a barber in Glowmar. We moved in late 1935 to Neon, KY where they owned and operated Baker Maytag & Furniture Company until their retirement in 1960. Although I live in Florida I still call the mountains home. " C. Dwight Baker, CPA, Vero Beach, FL Dwight@BakerCPA.net

"I was born in the Hurst-Snyder Hospital on June 18, 1945. My parents were Ray and Dorothy Kilgore Pridemore. Dr Pederson delivered me at 6:01 PM because my mother's doctor had decided to go home for the day and Mom's roommate's doctor, Dr Pederson, happened by to see about his patient. She asked him to take a look at my mom and lo and behold....into this world I came. Thirty years later Dr Pederson and I were side by side in a recovery room after surgery. When I heard the nurse call him by name and we were both alert, I told him that I was one of 'his babies.' We had a sweet reunion right there in the recovery room at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. I still live in Lexington but Dr Pederson has now passed on. Thank you for having this neat site!" Ward-Allen. I was born in the Hurst-Snyder Hospital on December 3, 1949 to
Louise and Calvin Ward of Vicco, Kentucky. I now live in Jackson, Ky. Even
through I was born at this hospital there was no birth record on file for
me. I've heard that this happen quite often in the late 40's at this
hospital. Let me know if this happened to you and I can get you
information on how to get a birth certificate, if you haven't already done
so."
