The Hilltoppers"  appeared on every network TV show from Ed Sullivan to American Bandstand. The Hilltoppers were ranked as the number one musical group during 1953 and 1954. They consistently remained one of America's Top Ten through 1960. During their eleven years, the Hilltoppers saw 21 recordings reach Billboard's Top Forty. Their big hit was "Trying" in 1952.

Don McGuire founded the group. Billy Vaugh later enjoyed a successful solo career.
